Explorer 114270 uses Caliber 3130 which is a movement still used as of 2020 in many models, including the Submariner No-Date model. #2 · Apr 4, 2020 The 114270 has SELs, a more modern movement and a super luminova dial. All that for not a whole lot more than the 14270. The five digit reference has a tritium dial, but it's kind of negated by the painted numerals. So any patina might look odd.

It's the 114270 reference that was made between 2001 and 2010 (after the 14270 that introduced the "modern" Explorer style, and before the 214270 took the size up to 39mm for over a decade.) This one is from 2004 and the full set included the original purchase receipt (£1,950 - bargain!) I've never had a watch that I've enjoyed.
